21 wickets fall in Barishal v Rajshahi day one

The second round of NCL (National Cricket League) 2021 has started on Monday (March 29).

The first day has seen 44 wickets falling across four venues, with 21 of them being in the Tier-2 match between Barishal Division and Rajshahi Division.

Tier-1: Khulna Division vs Rangpur Division, Rajshahi

Mukidul Islam has taken 6 wickets for 64 runs, as he dismissed Robiul Islam Robi and Imrul Kayes in the first two balls of the match after Khulna opted to bat first. Tushar Imran struck his 32nd first-class hundred – 116 off just 136 balls, hitting 21 boundaries.

Khulna were all-out for 221. Rangpur have lost 3 wickets but scored 103 runs till stumps to give themselves a chance for a big lead.

Zakir Hasan has continued his merry form into this match, scoring his second consecutive ton. He slammed 159 runs off 228 balls, including 17 fours and 2 sixes, before falling to Shuvagata Hom before the end of the day’s play.

Put into bat, Sylhet are on 282/6 in 90 overs. Jaker Ali made 67 during a 150-run fourth-wicket stand with centurion Zakir. Shuvagata Hom took 3 for 56.

Tier-2: Barishal Division vs Rajshahi Division, BKSP-4

Barishal, who opted to bat first, have had to return to bat again in the second innings. They are 23/1 in their secong innings at stumps, trailing by 46 runs, as the match closes on to a shortened lasting.

Spinners Sunzamul Islam and Taijul Islam’s four-wicket hauls got Barishal all-out for 82 in 29.3 overs. Seamer Mohor Sheikh started with two early wickets. None of the Barishal batsmen reached 20-run mark.

Off-spinner Sohag Gazi’s six-for left Rajshahi in tatters at 86/8. Junaid Siddique (43) and Taijul (37) paired on a 62-run partnership for the ninth-wicket before getting folded for 151.

Opener Pinak Ghosh’s unbeaten 137 runs has put Chattogram in the box seat after being asked to bat. Chattogram have ended the day on 281/4. Skipper Mominul Haque went for 11 while Yasir Ali made 49.
