Allan Border trolls McGrath

Meanwhile, former Australian skipper Allan Border took a hilarious jibe at Glenn McGrath while interacting with Harsha Bhogle and Sanjay Manjrekar. Border showered his praise on Green for his all-round potential.

The former Aussie skipper reckons that Green bats like Ricky Ponting and also added that Green is destined to achieve great things for Australia in the future. While talking about Cameron, Border sledged McGrath’s bowling speed by adding that Green is 10 kmph quicker than him.

“He’s an exciting young talent. What I like about him is that he as backed his potential with performance. He’s been scoring lots of runs in Sheffield Shield. Lot of people have said that he’s the best they’ve seen since Ricky Ponting. You went to the academy with Ponting, so you know what a quality youngster he was and turned out to be one of the greats of the game.

So if Green is anywhere near that then we have found a really good cricketer then you throw in the fact he’s around 6 foot 6 and bowls a heavy ball. He’s probably around 10 ks quicker than you pidgy! (McGrath’s nickname), bowls around 140. So he’s a real deal, don’t worry about that,” added Border said on Sony Sports Network.

Border’s statement took everyone by surprise including cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar. In fact, both of them couldn’t control the laughter after hearing such a statement. However, McGrath himself took the banter sportively. Meanwhile, Bhogle joined the interaction by saying: “That is a proper sledge.”

Green didn’t unleash his full potential during Day 2 of the first match as he made only 11 runs as the hosts were bundled out for 191 in the first innings. However, the 21-year-old has a good chance to showcase his mettle in the second innings.
