BCB ready to declare Mirpur Stadium as ‘quarantine center’
The suspect is first put into quarantine to find out if he has coronavirus infection. If there is a low level of doubt, then he’s sent to the home quarantine. But those who are prone to the presence of coronavirus in their body are kept in the institutional quarantine until the symptoms appear.
So, quarantine has great importance in preventing coronavirus infection. But for institutional quarantine, there is a considerable need for habitat, which can lead to a shortage if the infection increases. In such a situation, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has come forward.
BCB has said that the ‘Home of Cricket’ Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur and Mirpur Academy can be used for quarantine. There is no objection from the BCB to open the facilities if government wants it.
Due to coronavirus, all types of cricket are currently closed. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has postponed their all events until June. The Dhaka Premier League (DPL) has been suspended indefinitely. As a result, there is no additional engagement in Mirpur Stadium. There are no players, coaches, officials, media workers. Cricket is empty here.
Therefore, BCB is thinking of coming forward to tackle the coronavirus situation by using Mirpur Stadium as a quarantine center. BCB is now looking to the needs of government to formally declare Mirpur Stadium and Mirpur Academy an institutional quarantine center.
