Bumrah’s comedy of errors leave umpire in splits

Jasprit Bumrah has been one of the pivotal parts of Indian cricket history. He has been the most consistent bowler for Team India for the last 5 years. The pacer is continuing to haunt the opposition batsmen with pin-point or inch-perfect yorkers.

This is what makes him a world-class bowler. Time and again, he has helped the team in the death overs because he doesn’t concede too many runs. Besides being economical most of the times, he is also known for taking crucial wickets.

The pacer took part in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia. The 27-year-old fast bowler represented the national team in the first three Tests. He did not play the fourth and final Test at The Gabba in Brisbane.

The reason why he couldn’t play was that he had sustained an abdominal strain during the third Test match at Sydney Cricket Ground. He finished the series with 11 wickets. The Gujarat pacer recovered from the strain and is part of the ongoing Test series against England.

The first match is being played at Chepauk stadium in Chennai. England won the toss and opted to bat first. Bumrah who already took 79 Test wickets in 17 games had a great chance to pick his first Test wicket but Pant dropped a catch when Rory Burns hit the ball behind the stumps.

Bumrah’s comedy of errors

However, the pacer managed to pick up his first Test wicket in Indian soil by dismissing Daniel Lawrence for leg before wicket. After England lost 2 wickets, Joe Root came out to bat alongside Dominic Sibley.

During the last ball of the 30th over, Bumrah delivered a surprise bouncer to Joe Root. The England captain didn’t even attend the ball as it went over his head. The umpire Nitin Menon initially called it a wide ball but then again he realised that the bowler had overstepped the crease.

Bumrah’s comedy of errors left the umpire in splits as the latter declared it a no-ball. The video went viral on social media.
