Dhoni to be omitted from World Cup squad
Indian legendary wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni said goodbye to Test cricket about five and a half years ago. The head coach of the national team has advised him to leave the ODI too. The rest is just Twenty20 cricket. Former Indian cricket captain Dhoni is preparing himself for this year’s T20 World Cup.
The last match in international cricket was played seven months ago at the ODI World Cup in England. And six months before he played in the international T20. Indian selectors have not considered him in the national team since the ODI World Cup.
One such message has been that Dhoni is no longer getting a chance in ODI cricket. But the head coach of the team, Ravi Shastri, said the former captain could get a chance in the T20 squad if he can do anything good in the IPL this year. But the 13th edition of the IPL has been suspended due to coronavirus.
As a result, the future of Dhoni has been completely suspended. What will be the decision? Can he return to the squad at all? – No one has a clear answer on this. Dhoni, of course, is not doing that. Preparing himself for the next stage. If he gets the chance, he can do the best for his favorite team.
However, another former India captain, Sunil Gavaskar, feels that returning of Dhoni is almost impossible. Gavaskar, especially since Dhoni will not be included in the T20 World Cup squad to be held in October-November this year.
In an interview to a local daily, Gavaskar said: “I would be happy to see Dhoni in the World Cup squad in India. But I don’t think it will happen at all. Because the team is far ahead. I think he will retire from cricket. Dhoni is not the man to announce the beatings.”
