Gayle confident about recreating Yuvraj’s 6 sixes record in T20I cricket

Yuvraj Singh was a flamboyant cricketer during his playing days. The former left-handed middle-order batsman has often been a nightmare for bowlers. He used to hit sixes with relative ease.

He etched his name in the record books when he became the fastest cricketer to hit a half-century in T20Is. He achieved the record against England in ICC T20 World Cup 2007, smashing a fifty off just 12 balls.

During his knock, he scripted history by smashing 6 sixes in an over off Stuart Broad’s bowling. Yuvraj was a potential match-winner and a champion. He was named the man of the series in 2011 ODI World Cup tournament.

He scored 362 runs while also picking up 15 wickets to his name. The 2011 World Cup-winning hero announced his retirement from international cricket last year.

He also recently wrote a letter to the BCCI, expressing his interest to come out of retirement to play competitive cricket. But the BCCI declined Yuvraj’s request, meaning that he can’t make a comeback to the game.

Gayle confident about hitting 6 sixes in an over in T20 cricket

Meanwhile, West Indies opener Chris Gayle is pretty much confident about hitting 6 sixes in an over in T20 cricket. Gayle reckons that he still has at least 5 more years of cricket left in him. He also expressed his interest to play upcoming 2 World Cups.

Gayle added he is confident about recreating Yuvraj Singh’s 6 sixes record in T20 cricket. “It’s very much possible to hit sixes. So, if six is possible and Yuvraj has done it before so why can’t I do it. Yes, you, I anybody can do that,” Chris Gayle said as quoted by Hindustan Times.

Gayle strongly believes he can hit 6 sixes in the brand-new gladiatorial Cricket series ‘Ultimate Kricket Challenge (UKC)’, launched by Star Sports. The star-studded event will comprise the likes of Chris Gayle, Yuvraj Singh, Kevin Pietersen, Andre Russell and Rashid Khan. UKC is a unique format as it trims the game into 4 innings of 15 balls each, where each UKC gladiator will face each other.

The Universe Boss lauded Yuvraj Singh as a stiff competitor “Yuvi boss is always a stiff competitor for everyone here. So, the name is already big and strong in the media. So once a year you go up against Chris Gayle, it’s a different story. I’m sure it actually switched on, even more, when they played against the universe because it wants to beat the universe myself,” Chris Gayle concluded.
