Rajasthan Royals openers Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal linked up for the 238th-century partnership in the Indian Premier League’s history.
Buttler and Padikkal pulled up the 83rd 100+ opening partnership in the IPL, putting together a 155-run stand to tie for the equal 20th highest partnership in the history of the world’s greatest T20 event.
It is Rajasthan’s highest-ever partnership, and the IPL’s 11th highest opening partnership. It’s the second-highest opening partnership at the Wankhede Stadium, and it’s the third-highest overall partnership.
In the 34th round of the 15th season of the IPL, Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to field in the 34th match of the season. The left-right combo batted together for 91 balls to play a crucial part in powering the club to 222/2 in 20 overs.
Padikkal, on the other hand, reached his season’s first half-century before being dismissed in the 16th over. Padikkal struck out 54 (35) with the assist of seven fours and two sixes after playing second fiddle to an in-form Buttler in a massive opening stand.
