From here on, the Indian team will be without their skipper Virat Kohli as the skipper left for India on paternal leave. In his absence, Ajinkya Rahane will be leading the side. Also, the visitors are struck with another major blow since their right-arm fast bowler Mohammad Shami ruled out of the remaining games due to a fracture in the right arm.

The visitors are under huge pressure to do something reasonable as they registered their lowest ever Test score in the second innings of the first Test at Adelaide Oval. After that terrible batting display, there were some expected changes in the side, mainly in the batting line-up.

As expected India have made some changes in their line-up including the forced changes. The young right-handed batsman Shubman Gill is all set to receive his Test cap at MCG in the big Boxing-Day Test. It is expected that the youngster will take the opening spot along with Mayank Agarwal.

Along with Kill, Mohammad Siraj will be also making his Test debut for India. He has come as the replacement for the injured Mohammad Shami. Further in the bowling line-up, India will be playing with two proper spinners as Ravindra Jadeja too comes into the side. Rishabh Pant also makes his way into the side, replacing Wriddhiman Saha.

Ajinkya Rahane (C), Mayank Agarwal, Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj
