A sudden rise of COVID-19 infection level in the United Arab Emirates strangled hold the future of the 13th edition of the cash-rich tournament.

Reports said members of The Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) have met with Emirates Cricket Board Chief Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak on Thursday evening where the majority of issues of IPL 2020 have been discussed.

Praising ECB’s support in the whole phenomenon, a senior BCCI official quoted saying in one of the Indian publications, “Just small pieces of the jig-saw puzzles are remaining and we should resolve them and release the schedules soon. ECB chief’s support in the matter was of great help. We will incorporate changes in the schedule as per our discussions with the local authorities,”

Originally scheduled back in March this year, the sudden global outbreak of COVID-19 hindered all the sporting activities to be staged.

Amidst the uncertainty still looming the competition’s way, the Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals have reportedly begun their training at the ICC Academy in Dubai.

Although UAE hosted IPL back in 2014, this is the first time, the country is enjoying the right to stage the whole tournament.
