Jadeja likely to be ruled out of the third Test

Indian left-handed all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is likely to be no more part of the ongoing third Test against Australia after the dislocation of his left thumb.

India are in some setbacks in the ongoing third Test against Australia as the injury issues continue to trouble the visitors in Australia. India started day three on a higher note, but unfortunately, India suffered another batting collapse and ended their second innings on 244.

This handed over a healthy lead of 94 runs to the hosts ahead of the second innings. At the end of day three, Australia were 103/2 with Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne on the crease.

During India’s innings, the visitors two injury scares in the form of Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja. In the second session of play, Ravindra Jadeja got a hit on his left thumb off Mitchell Starc’s delivery. Soon he was given medical attention by medical staff.

He continued to bat with that injury and remained unbeaten on 28 at the end of the Indian innings. The all-rounder took the field too when India came in to bowl. But he faced some difficulties in handling the ball and went back to the dressing room. From there he was taken to scans, confirmed by BCCI.

The scan reports are suggesting his left thumb is dislocated and as a result, the all-rounder won’t take part in the Test further. Also, it may take him off the field for two-three weeks according to a BCCI official.

“Ravindra Jadeja has suffered a dislocation and fracture on his left thumb. It will be very difficult for him to wear those gloves and bat,” a senior BCCI official told. “In any case, he will be out of action for at least two to three weeks which rules him out of the final Test. Pant will be able to bat as his injury isn’t that serious.”
