The batsman never gave the opposition breathing space as he dominated the game more often than not. Earlier, Mumbai batted first and posted a colossal total on the board. Jaiswal and Tare chipped in with 40 and 42 respectively.

Mumbai captain Suryakumar Yadav scored 38 off just 19 balls including 4 fours and 2 sixes. Jalaj Saxena and KM Asif took 3 wickets apiece. While Mumbai appeared to be the favourites to win the game, Kerala stunned them in the run-chase.

Robin Uthappa and Azharuddeen shared a staggering 129-run opening partnership before Uthappa departed for 33. On the other hand, Azharuddeen went about his business and kept on smashing sixes and fours at will. He added a 61-run partnership with his captain Sanju Samson before the skipper was dismissed for 22.

Mumbai bowlers tried all their tactics but they couldn’t figure out a way to stop Azharuddeen’s force. The batsman went on to smash a quickfire 37-ball century. He eventually ended up scoring an unbeaten 137 off 54 balls with the help of 9 fours and 11 sixes at a blistering strike-rate of 253.70.
