Labuschagne pips Kohli to take 3rd position among batsmen

A lot of Test cricket was played recently and cricketers from their respective teams raised their bar and lived up to the reputation. The ones who brought the best out of themselves gained places in the latest ICC Test rankings whereas the players who didn’t perform properly lost points in the latest rankings.

Australia’s batsman Marnus Labuschagne finished as the top run-scorer in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series. The right-handed batsman scored 426 runs including a century and 2 fifties. He pipped Virat Kohli to take the third place in ICC Test batsman rankings.

Steve Smith who scored 313 runs in the just-concluded series with a century and 2 fifties is ranked No.2 while Kane Williamson who scored 2 double centuries against West Indies and Pakistan gained points take the numero uno spot with a record 919 points.

Meanwhile, England captain Joe Root who scored a double century against Sri Lanka gained 6 places to take the 5th spot. Cheteshwar Pujara who scored 271 runs in the four-match Test series against Australia jumped from 8th to 7th.

Australia’s top bowler Pat Cummins who took as many as 21 wickets in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series is still at the top of the Test bowling rankings. Josh Hazlewood who took 16 wickets in the series gained one position to take the fourth spot.

Ravi Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah also gained one position to take the 8th and 9th position. West Indies captain Jason Holder broke into No.10 spot in the Test bowling rankings.

As far as the men’s all-rounder rankings are concerned, England all-rounder Ben Stokes is at the top while Jason Holder gained points to take the second place. Ravindra Jadeja lost his place to Holder and had to settle at the third place. Ravi Ashwin gained one place to take the 6th spot in the all-rounder rankings.
