Lancashire Cricket Club chairman David Hodgkiss dies of coronavirus

Lancashire Cricket Club chairman David Hodgkiss has died after succumbing to coronavirus which turns into a global epidemic. At the age of 71, he has lost his life to coronavirus. It has been reported by the club itself.

Hodgkiss served the Red Rose with unique excellence for over two decades, as board member, treasurer and vice-chairman before he succeeded Michael Cairns in 2017. The province has not given a reason for death however a representative affirmed to the PA news office that it was “coronavirus-related”.

“The next detailed announcement will come from his family,” the club said in a statement.

“Before that, for fans and supporters, we want to say, today is a black day for Lancashire. David Hodgkiss, the chairman of the club, has left us after contracting coronavirus.”

It also stated, “David has been performing important duties for the club for a long time. Prior to the current chairmanship, he was Treasurer and Vice Chairman. The last is the chairman. He was the most accepted and loved man at the Lancashire Cricket Club. He was a man of great acceptance and influence throughout the cricketing world. We are deeply saddened for his family at his death.”
