The 1st match of the three-match T20I series between South Africa and Australia will be played at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

The last T20I between the two teams was played in November 2018 in Australia and South Africa emerged victorious by 21 runs. Out of a total 18 games played between South Africa and Australia, South Africa have won 7 while Australia have won 11.

In their last five clashes, Australia have won 3 and South Africa have won 2. Australia are coming into this series on the back of dominating performances against Sri Lanka and Pakistan at home and a hard-fought ODI series against India. South Africa, on other hand, tied a T20I series against India before losing 2-1 to England.

South Africa will have to find a replacement for Temba Bavuma who will not be available for this game due to a hamstring strain. Henrich Klaasen will take his place at the top of the order in all likelihood.

Rassie van der Dussen, Faf du Plessis and David Miller will form the middle order with Jon-Jon Smuts and Andile Phehlukwayo being the two all-rounders. Kagiso Rabada will join forces with Lungi Ngidi, Days Steyn and Tabraiz Shamsi to form a formidable bowling attack.

Australia are likely to give chances to Matthew Wade and Mitchell Marsh in the middle order. Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Kane Richardson will be their three pacers alongside leggie Adam Zampa and left-arm spinner Ashton Agar.
