Mohammad Yousuf picks the best batsman between Virat Kohli and Babar Azam

Virat Kohli and Babar Azam are giving absolutely everything for their respective nations. They are two of the best batsmen in the modern era and their record in three formats speaks volumes.

The Indian captain is the only batsman in the current era who averages 50 plus across formats. He has already carved out a reputation for himself as the best batsman in the business.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s all-format captain Babar Azam is slowly turning out to be one of the best in the business. He is also the consistent batsman and is tagged as Pakistan’s run-machine.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan batting great Mohammad Yousuf opined on the debate between Kohli and Babar. The former cricketer opened up on the strength of both these batsmen but went on to speak highly of the Indian captain.

Yousuf heaped praise on the 32-year-old Kohli for being disciplined in training and also said that his fitness is the main reason behind his success. According to Yousuf, Kohli is the No.1 batsman at present.

“I’ve never seen him practice but have followed some of his training videos on Twitter or someplace else. In today’s era, if someone asks me what is modern cricket, I‘d say it‘s about training.

The players today are fit and fast, as is Virat Kohli, which is the reason behind his terrific performances,” Yousuf said on the YouTube Show ‘Cricast’

He also added that comparing Kohli with players of a different era is totally not fair. “He has 70 centuries in ODIs and Tests combined. In ODIs, he has some 12000 runs and is approaching the 10k mark in Tests as well. In T20I as well, he has some great numbers. His performance in all three eras is high-class,” the 46-year-old added.

Talking about Pakistan captain, Yousuf said: “Babar has worked on his talent. He undergoes tough drills and practices. I keep telling these younger players that the harder they work on their practice, the easier it will get playing matches. Babar has been doing that constantly and look,” signed off Yousuf.
