Mumbai Indians rope in Kerala’s Rojith Ganesh as reserve player

Mumbai Indians are the powerful and successful team in the Indian Premier League. They are the only franchise to have won 5 trophies. Rohit Sharma utilized the available resources and players to good effect and became the most successful captain in the IPL.

Rohit has won 5 titles as captain and 6 titles as a player, the only player with such unique achievement in the cash-rich league. MI have had a habit of winning the title in odd seasons of the league. However, they defended the title for the first time to win two titles in a row.

Rohit Sharma & Co will begin their title defense on April 9 as they lock horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. MI will be looking to become the first team to win three titles in a row.

MI add Rojith Ganesh from Kerala as a reserve player

The 5-time IPL champions have recruited the services of Kerala’s Rojith Ganesh as a reserve player for the next season. The Kerala all-rounder played a couple of games in the Vijay Hazare Trophy this season but failed to deliver the goods. Moreover, he didn’t get many balls to bat where he managed to score just 10 runs.

The leg-break bowler was underutilized as he bowled only two overs in his debut game. Nonetheless, he has impressed Mumbai team management in the just-concluded KCA Presidents T20 Cup. He didn’t play all the matches while playing for KCA Royals who were the winners of the tournament.

In one of the games, he scored an unbeaten 28 off just 11 deliveries at a brilliant strike-rate of more than 250. Even with the ball, Rojith Ganesh impressed on certain occasions picking wickets for the team.

After being picked as a reserve player in the Mumbai Indians line-up, Rojith expressed his happiness of joining the most successful team on his Instagram handle. “Happy to stand with champions side @mumbaiindians #ipl2021,” the caption of his post read.
