Bangladesh have been set a target of 123 runs to win and take 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series against West Indies.

Shakib Al Hasan starred on his return

Shakib Al Hasan was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets for just eight runs in 7.2 overs, including two maidens.

Mustafizur Rahman started well for Bangladesh with the wicket of Sunil Ambris in the second over of the match where he found good shape in his inswingers. After the rain break, he returned with Joshua Da Silva’s wicket, courtesy of Liton Das’ stunning catch at gully.

Bangladesh celebrate the first wicket

Shakib, who is playing his first international match since ICC suspension, has enjoyed a good time on the field as he took three wickets in quick succession, leaving West Indies rattled. Shakib made good purchase of the sluggish pitch.

Debutant Kyle Mayers and Rovman Powell paired up for a 59-run sixth-wicket stand. Mayers hit boundaries in calypso style, making 40 runs off 56 balls with 4 fours and a six. Powell took the charge early on in his innings of 31-ball 28.

Bangladesh’s lone debutant Hasan Mahmud introduced himself to the stage with back-to-back wickets. The collapse started as the hosts ran through the lower-order.

West Indies were folded for 122 runs in 32.2 overs, their second-lowest total against Bangladesh in ODIs.

Hasan took 3 for 28 in six overs. The right-arm seamer showed good control of line and length. Mehidy Hasan Miraz took the only wicket of Mayers.

Brief scores:

West Indies 122 allout in 32.2 overs (Mayers 40; Shakib 4/8, Hasan 3/28, Mustafizur 2/20)
