Pakistani cricketers donate PKR 50 lakh to fight coronavirus


A day ago, Bangladesh national cricketers have donated half their wages to fight coronavirus. This time around, Pakistani cricketers also donated 50 lakh Pakistani rupees (about Tk 27 lakh in Bangladeshi currency) to fight coronavirus in their home country.

The money donated by Pakistani cricketers will be credited to the Pakistan Government Emergency Fund set up to fight the coronavirus. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani has also said that the players, who are on the central contract of the board, as well as the officials and employees of the board will be paid equal to their one-day salary.

However, the general manager of the PCB or those who are employed in a position higher than that will pay two-days salary.

Earlier, the High Performance Center of Pakistan’s National Cricket Stadium in Karachi has been converted into a specialized hospital to deal with the coronavirus.

According to the latest news, more than 1,000 people have been infected with coronavirus so far in Pakistan. So far, 4 lakhs 79 thousand 915 people have been infected with coronavirus worldwide and 21 thousand 577 have died.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh National team cricketers also donated half of the salary to a fund created to fight coronavirus. Apart from the central contracted 17 cricketers including Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah Riyad and Liton Das, the other 10 cricketers have also paid half of their salary, amounting to Tk 30 lakh. Besides, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will also donate money.
