Positive COVID test forces change in West Indies squad

Fast bowler Keon Harding has been picked in place of all-rounder Romario Shepherd in West Indies squad ahead of Bangladesh tour.

Shepherd tested positive for COVID-19 in Guyana, a Cricket West Indies release confirmed. As a result, he is released from the ODI squad.

24-year-old Harding is yet to make appearance in international cricket although he was a member in West Indies’ touring side in England last year.

Harding has played 17 first-class matches, 20 List A matches and one T20. He has 54 and 34 wickets in first-class and List A respectively.

CWI has also confirmed that all other players tested negative for COVID-19 before taking route to Bangladesh.

West Indies will arrive in Bangladesh on January 10 to play three ODIs and two ODIs. They will require thee negative COVID results on arrival to be able to start training.
