It can be noted that KKR brought the leg-break bowler for a base price of Rs 20 Lakh.

According to the BCCI rules, an Indian player is eligible to take part in an overseas league only after retirement.

Tambe who retired from cricket in 2017 went on to play in the Dubai T10 league the following year. He then decided to break his retirement plan and therefore withdrew his resignation to take part in the Mumbai T20 League.

Not only that Tambe put up his name in the IPL auction last year and was able to catch KKR’s attention.

IPL chairman Brijesh Patel revealed that KKR has already been informed about the decision regarding Tambe. “He [Tambe] won’t be allowed to play IPL,” Patel told.

“He [Tambe] won’t be allowed otherwise we have to allow everyone. The board only allow players to play in one day, three day, four day and county cricket and each player has to seek BCCI and respective state association’s no-objection certificate,”

Patel said.

“The case with T10 and T20 is different,” he added.

After making his IPL debut fro Rajasthan Royals, Tambe took 28 wickets playing 33 matches at an average of 30.46, an economy rate of 7.75 and a strike rate of 23.57.

The 13th season of the Indian Premier League will begin on March 29 with the match between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
