PSL allowed 20% capacity crowds

Games of the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will not be without any spectators at the stands, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has received permission from the government to allow a limited number of audience.

PCB on Thursday (February 4) revealed that they will be able to allow 20% capacity crowds at the PSL games.

The decision means around 7,500 ticketed spectators will be allowed access inside the National Stadium per match day, while around 5,500 will be able to attend each match day at the Gaddafi Stadium, informed PCB in a press release.

The sixth season of PSL will get underway from February 20. First 20 games will be hosted by Karachi, and the remaining 14 matches including the final on March 22 will be held in Lahore.

“These are baby steps and, considering that most sport events are being played in empty stadiums, this is a positive achievement,” said PCB chairman Ehsan Mani.

“This is an endorsement that the PCB is an institution, which is capable of planning and then successfully implementing COVID-19 SOPs during its marquee event being staged in Pakistan for the second successive year.

“Fans are the PCB’s biggest asset and we are delighted that no matter a small number, but some will be able to have access to the matches. Their presence will add flavour and excitement to one of the biggest and most challenging leagues in the cricket calendar,” he added.

The Pakistani board will now announce its ticketing policy within next few days to provide further clarity to the fans on how they can purchase tickets and the process to enter/exit the venues during the matches.
