Sami Aslam leaves Pakistan, decides to play for USA

Pakistan opener Sami Aslam has decided to leave the country as he did not get a place in the Pakistan team for the latest announced tour of New Zealand.

Samir made his debut against Bangladesh in an ODI series in 2015 at the age of 19. Then in about 6 years he got the opportunity to play only 4 ODIs. He made his Test debut in the same tour. In these 6 years, he played only 13 matches.

He last played for Pakistan in 2017 against Sri Lanka and before that he played his last ODI in 2016 on a tour of England. But at one time he’s considering as the perfect solution for Pakistan’s opener problem. Now batsmen like Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq have made their place in the team. As a result, the 24-year old left-handed batsman didn’t get opportunity in the team despite doing good in domestic cricket.

So, he decided to leave Pakistan after being excluded from the squad for the series against New Zealand. And then he made his mind to go to USA. This time he will play cricket for the United States. But for that he will have to follow some rules. That’s why he will move to the United States this year. Sami has already applied for US citizenship.

He will have to move to the United States now to qualify for the 2023 World Cup. He will be able to join the national team after playing in the league for 2 years and 10 months in the country.
