Sanju Samson reacts after getting two MOTM awards in two games
Rajasthan Royals’ star wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson is in the ultimate form of his life. His ability to score runs on a consistent basis with sheer six-hitting abilities is proof of the fact. Sanju Samson who was named the man of the match in the team’s opening match against Chennai Super Kings continued his form from where he left off as he scored a scintillating 85 off 42 with the help of 4 fours and 7 sixes.
He was one of the pivotal run-scores during the highest ever run-chase in IPL history. His impeccable contribution gave Rajasthan Royals a much-needed lift to chase down the target. Steve Smith’s blazing fifty and Rahul Tewatia’s impressive 51 also helped the Royals chase down the target. However, it was Rahul Tewatia’s five sixes in an over off Sheldon Cottrell’s bowling in the 18th over changed the complexion of the game.
Sanju Samson – Player of the match
Sanju Samson was named the man of the match in this game as well. With two wins in two games and a net run rate of +0.615, Rajasthan Royals move to second in the points table.
“My game plan is stand and deliver. If it’s in the arc I go for it, and it’s very important to keep the intent to hit the ball if it’s there to be hit. I’ve been working hard on my fitness, diet and training, and on my strength, because my game relies a lot on power hitting. I think range-hitting is what the game demands in this generation. I had time to work out in these 5 months, and I think I’ve increased that ability,” Samson said after getting man of the match in his first game against CSK.
“I have been hitting it well for the past one year. So I was just sticking to my routine and feeling confident. I am happy to win a few games. I did a lot of soul searching after being frustrated at trying stuff. So I decided if I had ten more years of cricket left in me, I want to go back and give my everything,” Samson said at the post-match presentation.
Steve Smith showered praise on Sanju Samson for his impressive six-hitting abilities. “Sanju Samson is hitting sixes at will at the moment. We saw in the nets that he was hitting the ball like he did in that over to Cottrell. Credit to him,” Smith added.
