The ICC (International Cricket Council) updated the players’ rankings after the Hamilton Test between New Zealand and West Indies.

Shakib, the former Bangladesh captain, was previously ranked No.3 in the all-rounder rankings before the one-year suspension. He is now placed fourth with 366 points, losing 31 points in the gap.

Englishman Stokes has claimed top-spot once again, with 446 points, while West Indies skipper Holder is down to second with 434 points. India’s Ravindra Jadeja is third with 397 points.

Shakib is placed 37th (576 points) in Test batting rankings. However, he has returned as highest-ranked Bangladeshi bowler with 637 points at 22nd position.

During Shakib’s ban, Bangladesh had played four Tests – two in India, one in Pakistan and one against Zimbabwe at home. The Tigers could only win the Test over Zimbabwe under Mominul Haque’s captaincy. Bangladesh had series against Australia, New Zealand (at home), and away series in Sri Lanka postponed due to pandemic.

Shakib earlier returned to ODI and T20I rankings. He reclaimed the No.1 spot in ODI all-rounder rankings. Although he returned as No.2 in T20Is, having Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi ahead of him.

The Bangladesh star’s international return will be in January when West Indies arrive to play three Tests, three ODIs and two T20Is.
