Six Australian fans removed from SCG stands after abusing Siraj



The racial abuse on Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj continued on the fourth day at SCG and six Australian fans were vacated from the ground with immediate effect.

After the stumps on day three of the ongoing third Test between Australia and India, BCCI revealed that Indian fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were racially abused by Australian crowds. At the end of the day, Indian stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin reported the issue to the on-field umpires.

Later it is confirmed that BCCI Six Australian fans removed from SCG stands after abusing Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah. But the issue continued on day four too as Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj was again abused by the Aussie fans when he was fielding at the boundary line in fine-leg position.

Indian stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane reacted immediately and halted the play. The skipper along with his men went on to report the onfield umpires,  Paul Reiffel, and Paul Wilson about the incident.

The onfield umpires immediately reported the problem to the match officials. As a result, along with the security officials, six men who were in a stand at Randwick End were asked to leave the ground immediately and the six men did so. After their exit play resumed after a 10 minutes halt.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia released an official statement regarding the events that happened yesterday. The board condemned the things that happened to the Indian players and confirmed that actions will be taken according to the Anti-Harassment Codes of the board. Also, they expressed their apologies to the Indian Cricket Team regarding the unpleasant things that happened.
