SLC announces LPL 2020 auction date
Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed that the auction process for the inaugural edition of Lanka Prenier League will happen on October 1st and 150 players including Shakib Al Hasan in line for auction.
Sri Lankan Cricket Board is busy in shaping up the inaugural season of the brand new T20 league Lanka Premier league. The league was scheduled to happen on August. But due to the pandemic situation and health guidelines, it has been shifted to November.
According to the new plan, the inaugural edition of Lanka Premier League will start on November 14th and go until December 6th. The board is planning to make it more bigger than the initial plan.
As mentioned earlier, there will be five teams participating in the tournament. Already, one team named Galle Gladiators has been launched. Remaining four teams will be launched in mean time.
Meanwhile, Sri Lankan Cricket Board announced that the auction process for the Lanka Premier League will happen on October 1st. More than 150 players including Chris Gayle, Darren Sammy, Darren Bravo, Shahid Afridi, Shakib-Al-Hasan, Ravi Bopara, Colin Munro, Munaf Patel and Vernon Philander are in-line for the auction process.
It is expected that a total of 30 International players and 65 local cricketers including domestic players will be picked for the season. Each team can pick a maximum of six International players in the auction.
As stated above, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is also in line for the auction process of inaugural edition of Lanka Premier League. If everything goes will this will be his first T20 league after the ban from International cricket.
