Sujon expects Shakib to return to his old rhythm soon

Khaled Mahmud Sujon and Shakib Al Hasan have success as a coach-captain pair in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). But this time they are in different team in the ongoing Bangabandhu T20 Cup tournament. Also they have been toiling much to find success till now.

The former Bangladesh all-rounder Sujon has been serving the responsibility of head coach of Mushfiqur Rahim-led Beximco Dhaka. On the other hand, the ace all-rounder of Bangladesh current team Shakib is the main player of Gemcon Khulna. Dhaka won just 1 match in 4 matches while Khulna won 2 out of 4 matches.

However, Shakib’s performance has been in the discussion in recent times. He kept his old good form in bowling but had been in poor form in batting. He scored just 41 runs in 4 matches with the average of 10.25. That’s why fans and followers have been worrying about his batting form.

But the 49-year old former Bangladesh captain expects Shakib to return to rhythm soon. “Shakib returned to cricket after a long time. Shakib is Shakib, the number one all-rounder. We haven’t seen Shakib in his way with the bat yet. He’s bowling in the way which he used to do always. He’s bowling good in every matches. Everyone has high expectations from him with the bat,” he said.

Shakib returned to the field with Bangabandhu T20 Cup after overcoming the ban. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Sujon hopes that Shakib will return to his old form in due course of time, “I believe he is a good player. Honestly, he is a performer all year round. Shakib will come back. Maybe he’s taking time. After a long time, there is the matter of hand-by-coordination. I think he will come back.”
