Sunil Gavaskar reacts as Virat Kohli struggles with the bat

The former Indian skipper, Sunil Gavaskar has reacted to current Indian skipper, Virat Kohli’s poor form with the bat in the ongoing IPL season. The skipper of Royal Challengers Bangalore has not been in good touch in the tournament so far.

The fact that the right-handed batsman could hit only one boundary in the three games so far and that one also came during the super over against Mumbai Indians. He could score only 18 runs from three games this season.

Virat Kohli began the tournament with a 14-run knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad but they went on to win the game by the heroics of Devdutt Padikkal and AB de Villiers.

During the game against Kings XI Punjab, he threw his wicket to Ravi Bishnoi while he was on 1 as RCB lost the game by 97 runs. His worst performance of the tournament so far came against Mumbai when he scored 3 off 11. But, the inning from Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch and AB de Villiers posted a huge score of 201 on their board.

Sunil Gavaskar’ reaction on Virat Kohli’s poor run:

While Virat Kohli has not shown any sign of improvement with the bat, the former Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar believes that Kohli would bounce back. He is confident that Kohli would score at least 400-500 runs at the end of the tournament.

“He’s a class act everybody knows that. So what if he’s had 3 quiet matches, he’s the kind of batsman who will make up for it towards the end.

“He may have started slowly but by the time the tournament ends, he will have 400-500 runs which is what he gets every year. There was that one year when he got almost a 1000 runs (in 2016) and hundreds as well (4).

“He may not get 900 runs (in IPL 2020) because the first 3 matches have been quiet but 500 runs totally, they are all written there,” Gavaskar said on air after the game on Monday.

Sunil Gavaskar had recently landed in a controversy after he made a comment on Virat Kohli after he scored just 1 run against Kings XI Punjab. His comment was twisted by the critics and he was criticised by the fans as well as the actors. However, he explained his comment on the very next day.
