Suresh Raina’s uncle killed by robbers in Punjab’s Pathankot

After Suresh Raina pulled himself out of IPL 2020, there are lot of speculation going round his choice as the batsman didn’t revealed the reason. After a day long speculation it came to know that one of Raina’s relative was murdered by a burglar and another one is fighting with life at the hospital.

It has been reported that the 58-year-old uncle of cricketer Suresh Raina died by those robbers. Besides, four members of his family sustained injuries in Punjab’s Pathankot district. Raina’s uncle was identified as Ashok Kumar, who is a government contractor.

The local police has confirmed that the incident took place at Thariyal village in Punjab’s Pathankot on August 19 and 20. Victim’s elder brother Shyam Lal confirmed that the victim was the cricketer’s uncle. He also confirmed that Raina is expected to visit the village.

Earlier, a senior police official had said they can’t confirm the victim’s relationship with the cricketer.

According to police, three to four members of the notorious ‘Kale Kachhewala’ gang had come with an intention to loot, attacked Ashok Kumar and his family members at their house in Thariyal village near Madhopur of Pathankot.

On Saturday, Raina’s exclusion from the team was confirmed by CSK’s official Twitter handle. The franchise wrote that Raina would not be available in this version of IPL due to personal reasons. They also wished for the players wellbeing with the family.

Although the reason for Raina’s opting out from the tournament has not been announced by the franchise or either the player, the Indian media reports have confirmed that he has returned to the country due to the unwanted situation.
