Tamim showers praise on Miraz, Taskin

Fortune Barishal captain Tamim Iqbal is ecstatic on performances from his two key players – Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taskin Ahmed.

Barishal registered their first win in Bangabandhu T20 Cup after skipper Tamim himself played the leading role with an unbeaten 77-run captain’s knock in a five-wicket victory over Minister Group Rajshahi.

Barishal’s first match turned out to be a nightmare when Gemcon Khulna’s Ariful Islam clobbered Miraz for four sixes in five balls in the last over to mark a thrilling finish on the opening day of the tournament.

Miraz compensated with an economical spell of two wickets for 18 runs in Barishal’s second game. However, the all-rounder has made scores of 0 and 1 with the bat so far.

“That (Mehidy’s performance) shows his character. Coming out of the game is not easy. A lot of players feel a lot pressure after such a game. Coming out of there performing this way was quite amazing. I’m very happy for him,” Tamim said at the post-match presentation.

Bangladesh paceman Taskin made good use of the lockdown period to work on his fitness. The handwork he put in has reflected in the games he played so far. Taskin’s skipper is overjoyed about him.

“Taskin has been bowling brilliantly for last 3-4 months. Whenever I have watched him – in the nets, in practice games or President’s Cup, he has been delivering big times. I hope he continues. He looks very very fit. He works really really hard nowadays. I hope he grows strength to strength,” Tamim added.

Taskin bowled four overs for 1/19 against Rajshahi. In the previous match, he took two early wickets of Khulna
