That match against Bangladesh is the best one till now: Hardik Pandya

India star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has said that among the matches he’s played in his career, the 2016 ICC T20 World Cup match against Bangladesh has been the most exciting and best one till now.

That match in Bangalore is still fresh in the minds of Tiger fans. India snatched the guaranteed victory of Bangladesh in the match of 2016 T20 World Cup. They incredibly won by 1 run.

But the Tigers were supposed to win by laughing that day. They needed 11 runs in the last over of Pandya. The two best batsmen of the team, Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim were at the crease at that moment. One run came from Mahmudullah’s bat in the first ball of Hardik. Mushfiqur hit two boundaries in the next two balls. They needed only 2 runs in the last 3 balls. Mushfiqur was overjoyed then. Sure victory, it was hard to hold the emotion.

But there is no place for emotion on the cricket field, Mushfiqur felt at that time. He was caught by Shikhar Dhawan in the fourth ball when he went to hit the deep midwicket. Mahmudullah also got out in the next ball, he was caught by Ravindra Jadeja at the boundary. So, Bangladesh needed 2 runs in the last ball but didn’t able to get any run in the last ball. Mustafizur Rahman got run out at the striking end while running. India won an incredible match.

Hardik Pandya will never forget that match. Hardik came live with Dinesh Karthik on social media and raised the issue of the match. The pace bowling all-rounder said,

“The last over against Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup was the most difficult. That was one of the best matches of my career so far.”

When Mushfiqur hit two boundaries in a row, India thought they would lose for sure. At that time, captain MS Dhoni came running from behind the wicket towards Hardik. Experienced Ashish Nehra also came running.

Sharing his experience, Hardik said, “I remember Mahi Bhai and Nehra Bhai came running. I said I want to give the bouncer. But they say it could be the opposite. It can become a boundary by edging over the keeper’s head. So I have decided to bowl outside the offstump.”

That intellect worked well in India. So far, this breathtaking Bangladesh-India match has been ranked among the best T20 matches in the ICC event.
