The training sessions have been started on January 28th. At the same time, those who are not part of the England Test series are in the SSC since last month. As a precautionary measure, 36-members are divided into three groups where only one set of players will be there in the training session at one time.

Now ahead of the final preparations, PCR tests were carried out on the provisional squad, along with the Coaching Staff, Net Bowlers, and the HPC Staff at SSC. According to the test results, Sri Lankan left-handed batsman Lahiru Thirimanna and the head coach Mickey Arthur are tested positive for the coronavirus.

Immediately, both of them are isolated according to the government protocols. Considering the current situation, SLC has decided to have some words with Cricket West Indies on rescheduling the tour.

“Hi guys got the news that I’m positive for covid 19. I have got zero symptoms and I still don’t know where I infected the virus. But I have been informed authorities necessary details to prevent it going to others. Stay safe people,” the Sri Lankan batsman tweeted.
