Twitter reacts to poor TV umpiring on first day of IND-ENG second Test

The umpires make a little mistake on the field. The third umpire or TV umpire stays off the field to correct that mistake. But if the third umpire is wrong, the there’s no way to avoid the mistakes.

The second match of the four-match Test series between hosts India and visiting England begins on Saturday (February 13th). On the first day of the match in Chennai, two wrong decisions of the third umpire went against England. Many have expressed their displeasure on Twitter.

England appealed for stumping of Rohit Sharma in the 71st over of India’s innings. Two on-field umpires approached the third umpire for a decision. Third umpire Anil Chowdhury declared Rohit not out. But as seen in the TV replay, Rohit was out.

In the 75th over, the English asked Ajinkya Rahane to be caught behind by Jack Leach. England took the review when the on-field umpire reported not out. In that review, it is clear that the ball touched Rahane’s bat. But the third umpire Anil signaled not out again.

In both cases, there was dissatisfaction with the umpiring of the Chennai Test. Many star cricketers have also expressed their dissatisfactions on Twitter.
