Virat Kohli and Co need to do only one thing to play WTC final

Team India scripted historic Test series victory in Australia with a remarkable 3-wicket win at The Gabba. Ajinkya Rahane & Co successfully breached the fortress by taking the game till the final day. It was Rishabh Pant who hit the winning runs for the side as he scored an unbeaten 89*.

Pant was named the man of the match for his heroics. Not to forget, Shubman Gill scored 91 runs for the team at the top while Cheteshwar Pujara scored a crucial 56 in the run-chase. India not only conquered The Gabba fortress but also secured second consecutive Test series triumph in Australia.

After their famous Test series victory, fans, experts, former and current cricketers of different nations showered praise on Team India for their fantabulous performance. However, they still have a mountain to climb in order to play the ICC World Test Championship Trophy finals at Lord’s.

In order to book a ticket to Lord’s Team India need to gain at least 80 points in the upcoming home Test series against England. The World Test Championship leaders have played 13 games where they won 9 games, drew 3 games and lost just once.

They have a real challenge ahead as they will lock horns with England from February 5 onwards. India’s regular captain will return to action for the first Test match which will be held at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

To play WTC final, India should be at their best to beat England. Joe Root-led team are in sensational form at the moment. They recently breached Galle fortress by defeating Sri Lanka twice in the first and second Test match.

In the process, they also inflicted a 2-0 whitewash on the Sri Lankan side. Now, they will be up against a belligerent Indian team and all the four Tests are a part of the ICC World Test championship.

India should do only one thing to play the ICC World Test Championship final and that is they should beat England either by 4-0, 3-0, 3-1 or 2-0. If they lose one Test match, then they should win all the remaining three fixtures.

Even if they drew two games and won the rest of the games, they will still qualify. In case if India loses the Test series by 0-3 or 0-4, they will not make it to the final despite other results.
