Australia is 1-0 ahead in the five-match T20I series. West Indies are confident they will take on Australia in St Lucia’s second game. The match will start at 7:30 PM (local) and 5:00 AM (IST) on July 13.
Nicholas Pooran, in the absence of Kieron Pollard, was directing West Indies’ remarkable comeback to win the T20I opening match by 18 runs. Australia appeared to be at ease at 108 for 4, while West Indies were chasing victory at 146. The Aussies lost their last six wickets by just 19 runs after Ben McDermott was dismissed.
As Australia fell in spectacular fashion, left-arm pacer Obed McCoy (4/24) starred for West Indies. Hayden Walsh Jr (3/23) was also a star. McCoy struck Josh Philippe (1), running through the tail, while Walsh Jr took the huge wicket of Mitchell Marsh (51 out 31). Fabian Allen contributed with the scalps to Australian skipper Aaron Finch (44) and Moises Henriques (16).
Finch was lost cheaply and Australia seemed to be moving along. Matthew Wade hit 33 runs in 14 balls, with the help of three sixes. Andre Russell had him caught at the deep point to get West Indies back into the game.
After West Indies fell to 65 for 4, Russell was the one who lifted them to 145 runs for 6. To help Australia reach a total, the big-hitting West Indian batsman, Russell, walked in for 51 runs.
Mitchell Marsh scored a fifty, but his valiant efforts went in vain. The second game is scheduled to take place on Saturday in St Lucia itself and the Aussies need a win to make a comeback.
The Caribbean team, meanwhile, stood up to the task in the absence of Kieron Pollard, who missed the game due to a niggle. Another exciting match seems to be on the cards.

The pitch in St Lucia was an excellent one for batting as the Aussies notched 60 runs in the powerplay. However, Obed McCoy, Hayden Walsh Jr, and Josh Hazlewood showed that bowling wasn’t all that tough.
Although the chasing team lost the previous game, batting second should be the way forward. There will be intermittent clouds during game-time, but with no chances of rain.
Avg score: 157 (14 T20Is in St Lucia)
